The Centre for Women’s Studies (CWS) at Cotton University, like other such centres in the HEIs of the country was formally instituted early this year in January 2020, following the 6th Executive Council resolution of Cotton University (Res.No./2019/6/9) which approved the establishment of a “Women’s Studies Centre”, proposed in May 2019. Housed in the main campus of the university, the CWS is headed by Dr. Pooja Chetry, Assistant Professor. The Centre mandates an inclusive environment while striving to provide an informed space and network of feminists, academics, artists and civil society for a gender-inclusive community that engages with conversations and interventions around women's concerns
read more →The Centre for Women's Studies (CWS) at the Cotton University was formally established as an academic centre in January 2020, following the 6th Executive Council Resolution of Cotton University. As the newest academic unit of Cotton University, CWS is currently supported by two permanent faculty members. It is committed to fostering an inclusive and intellectually vibrant environment that promotes gender equality, critical thinking and social awarness, with an aim of creating an informed and safe space for gender heterogenous communities.
CWS is dedicated to contribute towards creating a gender inclusive community and engage in constructive conversations around gender rights, diversified experiences and concerns. At present, CWS offers Multi-disciplinary Elective (MDE) and Value Added Courses (VAC) at Undergraduate Levels and Post Graduate Diploma in Gender Studies (PGDGS)
